Dear Parents/Guardians,

Please forgive the lack of updates from my blog. I have had difficulty logging on. We have been working right up to this point and will continue to learn until the end of the year. We have completed all testing for the year and I will be sending home the results of the NWEA Assessment as soon as possible.

Field Trip:

On Thursday, June 11, 2015, the fifth grade will be taking a field trip to Brookfield Zoo. I should have all the persmission slips and cost of the trip, ($8.00), by now. Your child should bring a bag lunch as we will be eating at the zoo. The children can bring a small amount of m9ney to buy drinks or snacks such as chips. We ask that you do not give your child large amounts of money as it is not necessary and it could be easily lost. Thank you for your support.

This week we will be working on the following:

Math:

We have completed Unit 10 in Everyday Math and will be taking an abbreviated test on the unit on Monday of next week. We will continue to work in our journals and use our Ipads to work on skills using different activities and programs such as ST Math.

Homework: Make sure all of Unit 9 and 10 are complete. Other homework assignments as given.

Language Arts:

We have been reading different selections in our SCOPE Magazines. This week we will read, The World’s First Superstar, a non-fictional article that tells  the story of Jumbo, an African elephant that became the most famous creature in the world. We will also practice writing direct dialogue and using quotation marks, puntucation and captialization correctly, in a made up story about Jumbo’s capture.

Social Studies:

We continue to learn about the Revolutionary War as well as practicing our note taking skills. The children really enjoy note taking and are doing an excellent job.

Civics:

Student’s will make up questions for a student made assessment on the book LaCausa.

Have    A    Great   Week!
